The IPBES Conceptual Framework — connecting nature and people

In this article, Diaz et al. (2015) present a detailed description of the Conceptual Framework approved by the IPBES Second Plenary, aimed not only for those involved in IPBES work but also as a general integrative framework of potential interest for members of the wider research and knowl- edge-policy communities focusing on the links between nature and people. The IPBES Conceptual Framework (hereafter CF) is a highly simplified model of the complex interactions between the natural world and human societies that are most relevant to IPBES’s goal. It builds on the basis of previous influential conceptual frame- works, and most notably the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment.
