PhD student position in Marine Ecotoxicology at the Department of Ecology, Environment and Plant Sciences. Reference number SU FV-1057-14.
Deadline for applications: May 2, 2014.
The Department of Ecology, Environment and Plant Sciences at Stockholm University carries out research and teaching in ecology, environmental science, physiology and systematics. The PhD project will be linked to a research group with researchers, graduate students and post-docs studying ecological aspects of ecotoxicology.
Project: Role of ecological processes in determining effects of contaminants in aquatic ecosystems
There is a growing body of evidence suggesting that ecological processes, such as species interactions, modify the uptake, exposure to and effects of environmental contaminants in organisms. These aspects are a major challenge in both current ecotoxicological research and chemicals management, and results from this project are expected to make an important contribution to these fields.
This PhD position will investigate indirect effects of contaminants in aquatic food webs, mainly using experimental approaches in the laboratory and/or semi-field conditions. In addition, food web studies in contaminated field sites are expected.
